Being an Architecture Student

Hi there!! Aaargh!! So happy to get back. ^^ It's been 2 months or so since my last post. There were soo many things happened recently, during my campus introduction orientation a.k.a. Ospek. We call it PPSPA (not sure what it stands for). Well finally I am studying in a major I have been dreamed of. Architecture! I really exited and I can't wait to learn and learn.

I have been joining this activity (PPSPA) for two months, and so many things had changed me. Yeah, about being mature and all that. About friends, sharing, being together, everything that I've never thought during my highschool day. Or maybe if I'm not studying in Trisakti, I wouldn't experience any of these stuffs.

To be frankly, my campus is... Well, it's not really good. Especially about its education. As we all know that it's a private university, so mostly anybody could enter and study there. We all know why is that.

But there's one thing that my major has, and I think not all of the major has it, the togetherness. It's not only being together which is important, but the essential of having a new family around you, for today and the next 4 years or your study. We're not just friends, we're just like family.

Firstly it sounded like a cliche for me, well, just because I'm in this ospek programme so my seniors would said such things. But being inside this programme and making comparison between other majors (which they don't know their own friends in their own year), I understand now and I'm proud to be one.

We're going to do everything together in our first year, and it's important not being selfish. Nanti lo cuma jadi kupu-kupu (kuliah-pulang-kuliah-pulang). Because we need to get socialized and we need to get alert on everything around us, so it'd be easier & it's for our own good too. For an architect, you'll get a project from your friend or senior. You wouldn't get anything if you're just inside your house studying. It's more than just being smart and intelligent.

And for an architecture student, IP is important, but it's not everything. So you may good in theory, but in reality, they need your creativitiy. More than IP, you'd need a portfolio for your curriculum vitae. It's no use of being smart but less creative. Well how great it is, since I don't really good in theory. Hehe. It's just important how to make connection, etc.

Lastly, about my study. It's really great! I only get 4 subjects for theory, and 2 subjects of practice. Something like designing (Architecture Planning) and art work (Form Appreciation), and it's a lot of fun. You don't need to sit back and listen to your lecture just like the other theory class did. For all of this, I am really thankful for being an architecture student. And we have a name for the 2006 students: DekonstruXi.

But all of this wouldn't be as nice as if I don't like doing it. Well, anything is interesting whenever you're into it, you know. Eventhough (I'm pretty sure) for the next higher semester I would be wake up all night long just for doing my assignment, less sleep, and for not sleeping for few days, it's common for architecture students. This is what I've been determined for. Doain aku sukses yaa. :)

Owh, yes, now, I don't regret about failing in SPMB anymore, because... I already inside the community and I love anything about Trisakti Architecture now. Adhisthana abadi! Hehehe. Wherever you study now, good luck for you too!
